The cruise continues

Well we have a good day today fine and sunny so we have cruised from Sutton Stop to Newbold on Avon and the good news the lights in the tunnel at Newbold are all working. We arrived at Newbold late afternoon and found a mooring on the 14 day moorings which was a stroke of good luck because when you have a 70' boat its quite hard to find the space .Tomorrow it will be a cruise to Rugby and the we can top up the food supplies ready for the final leg of our journey to Debdale Wharf Marina.

Thursday 17 September 2009

Chi-Cheemaun cruises on

We have cruised from Polesworth to the Anchor at Hartshill and after a good meal we moored overnight .Today we have cruised to just before Sutton Stop having past through Nuneaton witch is the place where they dump the nations plastic bottles in the canal (well it looks like that )so tomorrow we will do all the normal chores and negotiate the big lock at Sutton Stop and continue towards Rugby.

Back on line at last

Hi folks we are now back on line sorry for the delay but I blame poor Internet service.

Saturday 22 August 2009

Moored at Hopwas

Today we have cruised from Handsacre to Hopwas in very nice sunshine and little wind .
This is the view of the visitor moorings at Hopwas which are near the school and a short walk to the Red Lion pub .The Red Lion is a great place to eat and drink rather than the Tame Otter pub across the canal.

Thursday 20 August 2009

The Good and the Bad

Yes atlast I have internet again we have turned round and are now moored at Handacre owing to the problems on the Shroppie. Lets hope that next time we want to cruise the Shroppie they will be able to keep the water in it but for now we will have to go someware else.

Yet another day with rain and sun

We have cruised from Braunston to Rugby meeting some hire boaters who sat in Hillmorton lock waiting for a pump out and did not see any harm in holding up other boaters . We look forward to the idiot season to be over and the real boaters to come back.

Wednesday 22 July 2009

Waiting for the Boat Safety Certificate

We are still at Debdale Wharf Marina waiting for our boat safety certificate then we can continue our cruising season .So it has given me time to get on with some painting and other jobs which will keep me out of mischief at least.

Monday 15 June 2009

Our return at Watford Locks

This is a horse drawn boat we met at the locks its good to see the way it was before engines came on the scene .Today has been a day doing some of the job I had put off well who does like going down to the engine area . So now I am putting my feet up and doing my blog.

Sunday 14 June 2009

RETURNED TO BASE TO GET INTERNET

We are now back at Debdale Wharf Marina having cruised to Norton Junction and back via Yelvetoft and Welford .This is the first chance I have had to write my blog and visit this gent at Welford who seems to be hanging around as usual and before you say it its not me .

Just a short cruise

Yesterday I took Chi-Cheemaun for a short cruise to Smeeton Westerby and back to Debdale Wharf Marina .Now I must get on with the small jobs on the boat to satisfy the boat safety scheme . I wonder when they will stop moving the goal posts just so us boaters can spend even more money.

Friday 15 May 2009

Our new mooring

Chicheemaun has returned to Debdale Wharf Marina which feels like we have come home .
We will be here for a while to get our boat safety cert.and then we can start our cruising again.

Friday 24 April 2009

The last bit of the trip

We have cruised from bridge 60 and down Foxton Locks and onto Debdale Wharf Marina .

We will stay here for a while and get our certificate of compliance done and the go cruising again .

Thursday 23 April 2009

Nearly there now

Today we have cruised from Welford to Bridge 60 at Foxton. It was a nice sunny day but at Kilworth and found a flat named BEC blocking the canal a couple on narrowboat Nesta and us had to pole the boat back to the side of the canal and secure it with rope I supplied.
Is it time British Waterways made the contractors secure their boats correctly or fine them when as today they blocked the canal.
If it had been my boat B.W would have charged me for them to sort it out.

Monday 20 April 2009

Atlast i have been able to do the blog

Yesterday we cruised to Watford and climbed the locks where i gained three pasengers who were French and wanted to see what it was like going up the locks,(well ive done my bit for Anglo/French relations )
Today we have cruised in glorious sunshine from Watford to Welford junction and tomorrow morning we will cruise along the Welford arm and meet old friends and my brother that if I can find a mooring.

Saturday 18 April 2009

What a day

Today we were enjoying the country side by bridge 78 on the North Oxford canal until the hire boaters from Rose Narrowboats and Clifton Cruisers turned up.
I think they must be holding speed trials by the speed they pasted moored boats so lets hope i don't pass them tomorrow. At least I found one who had some sense in the form of the hirer on Rose Narrowboat RUMBA who said the other hirer's we going at a ridiculous speed.
We should name and shame these hire companies for the lack of instruction or should we inform them of the hirer's misdemeanor's and then they can refuse to refund the deposit the hirer pays.

Friday 17 April 2009

Rugby vistor mooring

Today we found a bit of sun so on towards Hillmorton and the three locks . We have continued towards Braunston but decided to stop short of Braunston and moored near the prison or should I say Holiday Camp.

Sophie the Birman

We must start feeding the cats then maybe they will not eat the plants (sorry Dot only joking).

Yet another day at Fazeley but busy with grandchildren who spent the afternoon at Drayton Maner Theme Park . I managed to cruise to Fazeley Mill Marina for diesel gas and coal . Well it kept me out of mischief at least.

Thursday 26 March 2009

Yes another day at Fazeley we had to take our cat Sophie to the vets at Riversmeet in Tamworth and then go shopping at Ventura Retail Park. So that was three taxi rides with Bennetts Taxies who give a very good service.
